RAF Catering Support ( RAF Cat Sp )

Wing Commander Catering Support and his team are responsible to Air Officer Administration for the provision of specialist cross-Command and common service catering consultancy support to the Royal Air Force.

This involves the maintenance and management of Royal Air Force catering standards and the implementation of Defence Catering Group policy, as it affects the Royal Air Force, along with the implementation of Food Safety legislation.

The key objective of Royal Air Force Catering Support is to ensure that the Royal Air Force receives the highest standards of catering service at all times, within authorised financial budgets and without detriment to the morale and welfare of Royal Air Force catering personnel.

The main tasks of Royal Air Force Catering Support are:

  • Specialist catering support to operations and exercises.
  • To provide stations and units with specialist catering advice.
  • Undertaking regular visits and inspections of catering facilities throughout the Royal Air Force.
  • The management audits of station messing accounts in the Royal Air Force.
  • Provide a conduit between Commercial branches and stations on contract catering issues.
  • Provide stations with advice on catering accounting policy, regulations, entitlements and food supply issues.
